This majestic Pseudotsuga menziesii stanfs atop a bluff, next to an historic home, now part of a community college, overlooking the Biltmore Estate and Pisgah National Forest. It rises over 82 feet, not quite rivaling its native habitat brethren of the Pacific Northwest.

Brian,

Very nice specimen. I have seen taller here. Seems to have some girth to it. 90% of the western evergreen species I see here in the northeast max out around 6-7’ in CBH, excluding arboretums. What’s the girth on that beast??? They never seem to do well unless planted in forest situations.

George
