ENTS,
I have recently been in extensive email contact with Michael Taylor, al la "The Wild Trees" by Richard Preston. He is the co-discoverer of Hyperion, the tallest tree on earth- a coast redwood currently measured at 379.3 feet tall.
Mike and I have been discussing various topics from macroscopes to eastern big trees. He has really latched on to what we have to offer and we are in the process of fleshing out his Landmark Tree webpage for North American hardwoods and pines. Much more to come on this!
Anyway, a recent article about him and his ponderosa pine discoveries had a link to the ENTS website as a direct result of our communication. I thought this was pretty cool and thought I would share the article here- even though not directly about ENTS.
BTW, Michael and I independently measured the same redwood in California; our measurements were 1.3 feet different on a 289 foot tree. That was great validation of the ENTS low-budget laser/clinometer method! As you can imagine, Michael is super-meticulous in his measurements.

I was glad when I saw that Michael had restarted a web presence with Landmark Trees, it's a great site for those of you who haven't visited it.
Man, I'd love to see those pines!
