Old cottonwood champ

Post by Jimmy McDonald » Sat Mar 27, 2010 5:12 pm

I found this picture of the old National Champ Eastern Cottonwood. It was located near Seward, Nebraska but was "laid out in two" in 2007 by wind or lightning. Two trees side by side it looks like but still impressive. 36' 9" dbh 85' tall 107 average crown spread according to an article online.

Jimmy, Agreed still an awesome tree. Most likely the root system with two trunks. Many Live Oaks have this form. Larry
