In N Ohio, the site that holds the state height record white pine at 156' has a tulip at 163'----I think for our area tulips would have always been taller than white pines.

I expect you are right, and that would hold even more as we move west. Moving eastward, the change comes in Pennsylvania.

Yes, the change would likely come in PA, and probably due to summer heat. I think N OH on average is likely hotter in summer than the higher elevations in NC, and certainly more so than MA or PA.
