Great Smoky Mountains National Park protects some of the largest stands of old-growth forest in the Eastern United States. While California might have a reputation for big trees, you might be surprised by what you find on a misty hike through the Smoky Mountains

Ed,

I applaud the young lady's spirit and appreciation of the tuliptree. I wish she had spent a little time doing serious research on the species, though Her assessment of the tree as 100-feet tall suggests she isn't aware of ENTS. We need to recruit her.

Bob, Ed,

I know Courtney and she has been on tree trips with me. She knows of ENTS- just doesn't choose to involve us much, unfortunately. Same for her boss and all of his publications through GSMNHA.

Will,

Interesting. I'll refrain from critical comment about GSMNHA, but you know what I'm thinking.
