I had planned to visit Bonaventure when my stepson Brian was stationed in nearby Ft. Stewart but I never made it there. It's still a planned visit on my list though.

If you go to Bonaventure, check out my namesake and great-great grandfather's grave. George Henry Stone was a Yankee soldier, 8th NY Heavy Artillery, wounded in the arm at Petersburg, June 16 1863 possibly by one of my other great-grandfathers in the opposing Army of Northern virgina. George Henry STone became an attorney and moved to Savannah after the Wah-uh and helped found the merchant seamans hospital. a good carpetbagger indeed.

Yes, I will. It's great that you remember those that have gone before you.

I am sure there is a lot of history and stories to tell concerning Bonaventure.
