Hermosa bill - Article in the Durango Herald

Post by Matt Markworth » Mon Jun 09, 2014 8:21 pm

All,

I don't have additional insight to add on this topic, other than to say that those going to Durango in August may be interested in this article published yesterday about the ongoing legislation effort involving Hermosa Creek.

Matt,

The Hermosa Creek is where we'll do a lot of big tree searching and measuring on Aug 6 and 7. I've reported many times on the Hermosa Creek old growth. You're going to love it.

Hermosa Creek Trail Area is one of the most beautiful places I have been to. I hope the Bill gets passed for future generations to enjoy an unspoiled wilderness such as this. Like Bob said anyone who goes will Love it! I sure fell in Love with the area and can't wait to come back for some more exploration. It is a hikers dream. Hermosa Creek Trail is around 20 miles long, I only walked in 3.5 miles and saw some of the largest Ponderosa Pine, Fir, Spruce, Aspen that Colorado has to offer. This year I plan on helping break more records! Thanks Bob for introducing me to such a fantastic place! Some photos from last year. Larry

Larry

Great pictures. We should be able to write the story of the Hermosa Creek old growth with all the Ents out looking. Can't wait.
