NTS,

Just curious if anyone has ever had the opportunity to test the Nikon Laser 400. I'd probably only buy one if I found a really good deal on it, so I'm asking more out of curiosity than anything else. At first glance the difference compared to the Nikon 440 is the stated range of 400 yards vs. 440 yards and the silver coloring. I wonder if it has the ability to penetrate clutter like the 440.

I hadn't seen that one before. It is shaped like the 440, but unless they've mended fences with the folks at Laser Technology I doubt it will be as effective as the 440. I have the fairly new Nikon riflehunter, which does fairly well with clutter, but it does not do as well as the 440. The riflehunter actually does beat the 440 at small twigs at a distance but the laser width is a bit wider than the 440, so the 440 is still the go to laser for crown scanning as well as through ground clutter.

Edit: I assume this has been out of production longer than the 440. In that case, it may have the same laser manufacturer.

Will,

Not fair, you all are ganging up on me. On second thought, if it turns out not to be a good value. Hmmm.... Yeah, Matt, go get, test it, and let us know the results.
