"With these digital maps, we're seeing the park in a whole new way," Langdon said. "Instead of relying on lines on a contour map, we're now picking up landscape features that weren't interpreted in the old aerial photography. It opens up a whole new world for those interested in exploring the park."

Thanks Brian,

According to the second link, the LIDAR based maps will be "made available to the public on an interactive site". Does anyone know if those maps will have a canopy height layer?

Patrick,

I think Josh Kelly, Jess riddle, and Michael Davie have "been there done that". Some really exciting discoveries have come from those data so far and more to come.
