Ogham Studies-Duir (Oak )

Post by James Parton » Tue Nov 23, 2010 11:41 am

Duir ( Oak )

The Noble Druid Oak
That stands among the ancient stones.
The legendary spells evoked,
Lie silent with their buried bones.

But tree and stone together
Have conspired a new age
And born again are Druids
Who are turning a new page.

For the magic of the world
Cannot be thrown away
The mystery is again unfurled
And the Oak shall lead the way.

I like your poem - and thank you for the invite. It is good to see that ENTS comprises the whole spectrum of trees, to include their mystical and poetic aspects!

Greetings from another tree-loving, Ogham reading and tree lore studying Druid-in-training,

Petra

Petra,

You welcome. I am sure you will have so much to contribute here. ENTS needs a druid's touch!

Wow I thought 'Ogham' was a person but I just looked it up. "An early medieval alphabet and sometimes referred to as the Celtic Tree Alphabet"!

The thing I like about Ogham is its connection to trees. Each tree has an Ogham "letter" that goes with it and that stands for the particular virtues or characteristics of that tree. It is a fascinating way to learn about trees from the inside out - while ENTS measure them, if I got that fact right, we ... well, communicate with them on their level. At least, that is the idea and Ogham a tool that works for some people, at least.
