Champions of West Virginia

Kudos to Turner! It's great to see this recognition in an article right on the front page of the AF big tree website. ... -virginia/
“Turner Sharp, a retired forester, is our greatest Big Tree hunter,” states Bob (Hannah) in a recent interview. Sharp, also chairman of the Parksburg Tree Commission, has been working with the Division of Forestry since 2009 to keep the state’s Big Tree Register up to date. As part of this project, Sharp and his team remeasure existing champions to account for growth and keep their aggregated scores up to date, in addition to measuring recently nominated champions.

Yes, a fine tribute to Turner. Thanks to his efforts, West VA is a success story.

It is so gratifying to see a State champion tree program live up to its potential. Our collective thanks go to Turner and the other foresters that participate in the WV program.
