Hello. My name is Bryce Ruddock from Wisconsin in the USA. I am a Permaculture practicioner, and do plant species research for a database used in ecological restoration as well as design work in both Permaculture and restorations. I co- authored Integrated Forest Gardening:the Complete Guide to Polycultures and Plant Guilds in Permaculture Systems. Looking forward to learning about forest species in a global context as it will be incredibly useful for our projects to come.

A hearty welcome from the western NTS group (WNTS) ! While I'm a decade out of the field (retired in 2007), among other hats, I was involved in re-establishing native plants (from a contracted nursery using our collected seeds) at Grand Canyon National Park...at the time, I was grappling with strategies to 'mitigate' or at least 'facilitate' our native plant restoration in a changing climate.
I suspect others here (WNTS, ENTS) will be interested in your work...we recognize the role of understory plants in a 'old-growth forest ecosystem, and I'm guessing that's part of your tasks?
