I am an environmental photographer, writer and teacher specializing in natural, rural, historical and garden areas in and around my home state of Ohio. I have published 19 photography books, mostly on Ohio, including my newest book, Trees: A Photographic Celebration, which is self-published and may be previewed, purchased, or downloaded from http://www.blurb.com. I have probably taken more photos of trees than any other subject during my 25-year photography career. An exhibition of 28 Epson Ultrachrome color prints of images from my Trees book is on exhibit through February, 2014 at the National Center of Nature Photography near Toledo, Ohio. I also conduct a slide program based on my Trees book, which includes many of my favorite tree poems and quotations. In addition to my published books, I've taught more than 200 photography workshops and seminars and teach horticultural photography as an adjunct at Ohio State University's Agricultural Research Institute (ATI) in Wooster, Ohio. One of my photographs of the national champion cucumber magnolia in North Canton, Ohio is included in the 2014 Big Trees Calendar.

I love trees, identifying and learning about them and photographing them, and it's a pleasure to be a new member of the Native Tree Society.

Ian,

Welcome aboard. Photographing trees is a frequent topic on the BBS. You are among friends.

Ian,

As a fellow Ohioan, it's such a pleasure to have you on board. Welcome!

My vocation is in the world of finance, but my avocation is all things related to trees. I was in your neck of the woods, Cuyahoga Valley National Park, last weekend and put together this video of Hemlocks that you might like. I also enjoy quotations and I have added a Thoreau quote to the audio. The quote is from a Librivox recording and is in the public domain.
