Middletown Oak, Middletown, CT

Post by johnofthetrees » Mon May 24, 2010 8:21 am

ENTS:

While attending my niece's graduation from Wesleyan University yesterday, I of course had time to look for tall and large trees. I didn't have to look far... in the backyard of her apartment was a very impressive red oak, 16.1'c x 106'h. it is located behind 59 Home Avenue in Middletown, CT.

Here is a picture of the tree:

John,

Another great oak by the name " Middleton ". Judging by the car in the photo it looks pretty dang big. The one behind the car looks sizeable too.

OK, it's " Middletown " not " Middleton " but close.

James,

Yeah, they probably shouldn't park on the roots like that, but in a college housing setting, good luck with that!

John,

Connecticut has endless big tree possibilities. It is relatively close to us and I feel that I, in particular, have been profligate in not going down there more often. I hate the congestion.
