A HAUNTED TULIP POPLAR! Scary stuff here, NJ

Post by John Harvey » Tue Dec 11, 2012 9:16 pm

I snaped this photos a few months ago of a multi trunked tulip tree, about 17'CBH 120' tall. I never looked at it again until last night and what I saw FREAKED ME OUT! Literaly. There is some kind of face looking back at me from inside the tree. Yes this picture was taken in Jersey but this doent look like the Jersey Devil to me, more like a small ghost or hobbit of some sort. Tree is located in a small woods in Clementon NJ.

The first picture is from a distance, you can see it in the middle, the second picture is a close up of the "object". What could this be? I was thinking maybe a log or something sitting in the center being hit by direct sunlight from the back?

Excellent! One of my wife's friends loves that goofy stuff. She'd think it's a real ghost.

Huh, interesting. Sounds like a good guess.

In other news, they even have a word for that:

Sorry, just a basic spider web...but it does look freaky at a distance!

There's another term for it: superstitious idiot.

Yeah, what you have there is a Jersey Devil all right. Rare in the day time and outside of the pineys, but that is one for sure. VERY DANGEROUS!

Here's a case of Pareidolia.

Check out the face in the rock right next to the waterfall. You're looking at the side of his face. This is on the Falls Branch hike in Citico Creek Wilderness. The trail starts next to the Cherohala Skyway and is marked as Rattlesnake Trail West. There were some old growth Yellow Buckeyes there, but this was before my measuring days.

Ok, so years ago I started this thread. One of my first NTS BBS posts. Tonight I captured this image...can anyone see the womanly figure in ghostly white? This time I don't think it was a spider web but a growth inside the fire scar.
