The book showed the Scott Outdoor Amphitheater which I thought was a cool marriage of nature and the man made.

A church in Applegate Valley, Jacksonville, Oregon, address, has an amphitheater with similar feel to it. Not as many trees, but enough trees to remember.

That amphitheater is pretty to look at it but it can't be good for the trees. The trees do look healthy- but perhaps that's because it's seldom used.

Ill have to post some photos of Stern Grove is San Francisco. The amphitheater there is very similar.
