Brian- I believe that is the longest limb measured on a Live Oak. Did you get a chance to measure the Crown Spread? I believe it to is the longest. 180' something I believe? Larry

Larry,
The last spread average I have is from 2012, at 164'. Then, the longest limb was 104'. I thought I did another spread last year but if I did, I didn't publish it. I may come across it in one of my notebooks. I didn't have time for a full spread this year but it appears that the spread is likely in the 167' range with the longest spread being 187' or so. The long limbs are growing but the side facing the parking lot doesn't seem to be putting on any length. The 11' limb is supported by the ground at a couple of points. Some limbs enter the ground and reappear.

I made it to two other sites and found a couple of live oaks that appear to be a good bit older than both the Middleton Oak and the Angel Oak. You'll find out about these shortly.
