Big American Elm (Ulmus americana) in downtown Aylmer

Post by wrecsvp » Sun Jan 19, 2014 11:32 am

One of the largest American Elms in the Ottawa district grows in downtown Aylmer QC. TLC is not something that this tree is familiar with; note that it is nearly surrounded by asphalt, complete with a dumpster at its base! Still an impressive old tree, 88' tall by 184" circumference (CBH) or 58.6" = 1.48 m diameter (DBH)

I noticed this one, lately. With the leaves off, it has amazing shape and looks. I should get pix.

I also saw this good looking Norway around the corner.

Some idea of its height. Streetview makes it hard to get a good look at it.

It is funny how much more impressive Streetview makes trees.
