The cottonwood looked relatively young (it doesn't have the cauliflower moribund look they get when they stagnate in old age). It's growing in a dense stand with several other similar sized cottonwoods so I'd guess it has the legs to reach 150', given a decade or so.

Love love love those tuliptrees! Fantastic find and wonderful pictures. Jess and I will be taking updated measurements of the only 2 tulips over 160' in Atlanta next week. I've gotten as high as 166' for one of them... both in creekbed ravines.
