Re: Atlantic white cedar. Florida champion.

We'll go back. We try to head to Florida to go kayaking at least once a year. Blackwater River was high on our list so, and remains so.

Atlantic white cedar. Florida champion.

I forgot to post this video. My wife and I made a brief visit to Blackwater River State Park in May. We were supposed to kayak the river but--believe it on not--the weather was too cold the day we went. So I ended up just doing some hiking and touring of the elevated boardwalk in the park before we ...

Re: Norway spruce cones

I have to say, the Norway spruce is probably my favorite non-native species. It's just so damned pretty. Whenever we go to West Virginia we see a fair number of them.

Re: Curtis Creek, Mackey Mountain Area, Pisgah NF, NC

Question: Hiking UP the Snooks Nose Trail I have come to a point where I heard a loud sound of rushing water (coming from the right). If I descend into the cove from that point in the direction of the sound would I come to any old growth groves? I've been hiking in that area, but not off trail that ...

Re: The epic mother-load of Carolina hemlock

So...after a couple of years...what is the status of this grove? Were the Carolina hemlocks treated, or allowed to die?

Re: Enormous kapok tree

Here's one my niece saw in Peru. She was visiting Macchu Picchu and mentioned to their guide that she would like to see some big trees. So he took Michelle and her husband Jeff into the forest to see this one. http://www.ents-bbs.org/download/file.php?mode=view&id=20028&sid=fe648f7f73d56ef321d6bb3f5...
