Re: Atlanta city Rucker 10 index

Do it! There's bound to be more tree nerds like us that would love to stumble on that kind of data. Plus it's fun.

Re: Beecher Hills, Atlanta, GA

Bob- I've thoroughly combed through at least a dozen or so main forested sites in Atlanta. I just compiled a "Tallest Trees of Atlanta" list that I will try to post on here. The R10 is 137.4, not too shabby. Any time you're in the area and want to tromp around the forests I'd be happy to show you ar...

Beecher Hills, Atlanta, GA

I had a great outing yesterday at another nice urban greenspace in Atlanta called Beecher Hills. It's tucked in a neighborhood on the SW side of town. It is now owned by the city (after being threatened by development) and a lot of invasive removal work is being done by the local non-profit Trees At...

Re: Could we have a lower south meet and greet weekend?

I'd be interested- especially if it's on a weekend and within a day's drive of Atlanta.

Re: Atlanta city Rucker 10 index

@ Steve- WOW! That's pretty impressive. I had no idea there was such a diversity of tall trees in northern Ohio. Do you recall which species made it to the top 10? I'd love to see that spreadsheet if possible.

Call for DATA!

Alright fellow ENTS and ENTSettes. I need to start updating the Georgia state max list. Send me your tallest, fattest, and biggest spread individuals by species in both open and forest grown areas. I have a good list from Jess Riddle, but need to get more current numbers. I'm also working on compari...

Re: Atlanta city Rucker 10 index

Sorry for my binomial shorthand Beth :) Thanks for clearing that up Ed. I get so used to using those abbreviations that I don't even notice it anymore. Will- I would imagine Asheville has a pretty high RI. It would be neat to extend to 15 or 20 species too. Things like winged elm, beech, maple speci...

Re: Updating the MAX list

I'm 100% in for Georgia. Leaf out is in full force here in Atlanta, so my tree hunting expeditions are fast coming to a close. That means I'll be able to start entering data and pulling out those superlative trees. I'm also very interested in comparing some of the common tall species here in Atlanta...
