So my mental arithmetic wasn't too bad after all! Those giant old growth trees at the bottom of the list would certainly have cylinder occupations far above 33% if you assume that they were approximately conical when they first reached full height. Industry and technology have disguised our total dependency on the other living things on the planet. Ironic isn't it, that earlier people, without our scientific knowledge, saw this much more clearly.
