Re: Eastern Mountain Maple, Green Frogs, and a Chipmunk

Michael,

What a great recording, and fascinating info about the communication between these frogs. Bummed out about that traffic noise. All the ways we harm nature.....

Thanks for posting this.

Re: Thoreau Tree recording session

Oh what a fantastic day that must have been. I love the pix. And love that you know all the bird calls! I don't know if Michael processed a recording yet, but I'll check.

And you know the bird calls, Andrew! Wish I could have been there.

Re: Sabal palmetto & C. Limon

I love these evocative soundscapes! This is not really pertinent to the work you do, but one of my best childhood memories was waking up at our summer camp on Sebago Lake in Maine to the sound of the wind rustling the oak leaves outside my window. At home, there was an eastern white pine outside my ...

Re: Tree Humor?

More FUN (?). (I search for these silly/cute things in between baby sparrow feedings every 20 minutes, which is becoming my hell. Can't leave the house until 7 at night, and by that time I'm too tired! Good time, good times. My own version of "No Exit".) So HUMOR ME! In both senses of the term.

Re: Barred Owls

Mark,

What a great shot and great experience to see the 2 of them up there. Maybe you see them all the time, but I'm jealous of this down here in NYC!

I particularly like

"But they have clawed their way back into the public eye through these impressive snaps."

Birds have claws now? Ace reporter and fact checker. But awesome photos all the same.

Hmmm, looks like Andrew could have been responsible for that! At least, I know he has the skill to do such a great carving.

Re: This forest has its own theme song

The Japanese culture is the only one I think would make such a surprising and beautiful structure. From what I've read and movies I've seen, the Japanese have great respect for forests. Jenny (Joe, aw,are you referring to the quaint Samurais, the Russo-Japanese spat, the several attempts to conquer ...
