Re: Fleckenstein Park, OH

Matt,

Very impressive oaks, you have my attention. Do with it what you may. I love the summer/winter photos!!! You have captured the maturity/essence of these oaks with your photos. Especially love the branch stucture of the 14'2.5" chinkapin.

Re: Dobroč Primeval Forest – new record for European silver

Kouta, Jerome Im amazed with the forest/specimens you find in Europe. Kouta, Jerome, Bob, Will, I made a scouting trip back in 2010 that resulted with one Norway spruce exceeding 140' and several others over 135'. This site also produced several Pennsylvania height champions that I've not yet report...

White Clay Creek Preserve, Pa.

NTS, First off, my apologies for not posting sooner. I have been without a laptop for nearly three years now. Many photos from my field trips have been lost, so I'll keep it short and sweet, mostly numbers. Second, I have kept active in my pursuit to document/locate exceptional sites/trees in Southe...

Re: Pine Orchard, Wells, NY

Elijah,

As usual I enjoyed reading your post. Those white pine are truly impressive. I believe the roadside balsam fir you measured is a new NTS height record. I wonder if there's an even taller one back off the road. Congratulations on your new find and keep them coming.

Re: Hocking Hills Romp

Matt, My guess is that Georgia will make the 150 Club without any trouble, but I doubt Virginia will. Nor do I think Alabama can make it. Based on what Larry Tucei has found, Missippi won't make it. Florida? No way. Kentucky is a possibility. There is no state in the Northeast that can do it unless...

Pennsylvania's Tallest Known Boxelder 2014

NTS, January 13th of 2014 was a sunny, blustery day with several inches of fresh snow on the ground. I could think of nothing better to do than go and update a boxelder that measured 9'1" x 91' back in January of 2009. The tree is located in Valley Forge National Park along the floodplain of the Sch...

Large Saul's Oak in Delaware

NTS, I found a large Saul's oak on 11/14/14 in Delaware's Valley Garden Park. The oak measures 11' x 124.2' with an average spread of 57'. It's growing at the edge of a mature second growth hardwood stand, roughly 5-10 acres, bordered on two sides by a nearly pure stand of third growth tulip poplars...

Re: California Woods (OH)

Matt,

What an incredible site!!! I've measured more than a dozen sycamore over 140' and one over 150', all of them growing among tulip poplars of similar age with the tulips a bit taller. Are you finding the same trend? Congrats on all your discoveries. Looking forward to more.

George
