Ed,

Very interesting. There is still some things mankind still has not figured out.

Maybe faeries are real...

Re: Highest leaf in the Eastern US?

Mountain Ash...Ah, one of my three totem trees. That is pleasing to hear. It is certainly one of the loftiest of eastern deciduous trees. Birches, and a couple of maple species may rival it though.

Re: Barred Owls

I see Barred Owls occasionally in my neck of the woods. I also see the little Screech Owls. I wanna see a Barn Owl. I have heard them but have never got a good look at one in the darkness.

Owls are awesome birds!

Re: Highest leaf in the Eastern US?

Awesome Will. I read " leaf " and thought deciduous trees. My old hillbilly self still calls conifer leaves " needles ".

Ok, here's you a challenge, see if you can find the highest deciduous tree leaf in the Eastern US?

Damn, Bob. I wish you lived close to me. I could learn so much from you, not only on forests and tree measuring but on how to take a good picture!

I always have enjoyed your forays. You are a druid and don't even know it. :-)
