Good question Randy. I know they grow in the understory the ones I saw. Not sure if the mass blow down will be good for them.
The website site most were not affected by the storm.

All- Hermosa Creek Trail re-opened April of 2018 but enter with extreme caution. Photos from the April article at the Durango Herald show the 416 Fire devastated the Forest and the trail looks eroded.
