Hi from WNC

The onslaught of tree tourism begins. First the redwoods, now the tulips. In terms of damage done it matters not whether hogs or people, same difference. First you'll have guided tours to these trees, next you'll have guided tree climbs. The National Park service will be so starved for cash that th...

"Night of the Ginkgo" Oliver Sacks, New Yorker Magazine

Hi Jenny, I've read of ginkgo parties in autumn. Once its leaves start falling they go fast. So people pull up lawn chairs and celebrate. Carol Diamond Last Fall, my husband and I watched a ginko shed its leaves. With a gentle breeze, the tree was totally bare within 20 minutes. Really lovely to wat...

Re: The Beauty of Tulip Poplar Wood

Ray--beautiful bowl! Try scouting for a fallen lightning-struck poplar. You probably know this, but the lightning causes a chemical reaction in the wood which gives it all kinds of pink, blue and purple streaks. Absolutely gorgeous! Have the...

Nowhere do I see anyone giving me credit or thanks for my bad tree riddles. Hmmmm, I do declare!

Re: Just e-published, AF's Measuring Guidelines

CONGRATULATIONS Don and Bob on a monumental achievement. We can only imagine the thousands of hours that went into this massive project. And now forward with planning and running measuring workshops, dealing with all the questions, fallout, etc. If the trees could talk, they'd say THANKS!
