Re: unknown variety of oak in New York City

The leaves on the Bur Oak that I photographed in Lancaster, Pa about 1 month ago don't look anything like that.

unknown variety of oak in New York City

Yesterday my dad and I went to New York City for a dinner. Since we got there early, we decided to walk around the area. We came upon this Oak tree that I don't know what variety it is. It isn't like anything that I have seen before. Please help identify.

Re: Oak trees in South Jersey yard

I didn't expect some of the answers that were given. It was nice to see some ideas as to what the leaves might be from. The first picture: 1 is post, 3 is white, 4 is Scarlet. The second picture: 1 is chestnut. The other ones I am not sure. One of them should be a Black Oak. As far as I know, there ...

Oak trees in South Jersey yard

These pictures are of leaves from different Oak trees that are in my yard. Most of them I know what they are. A couple of them, maybe, maybe not. I know it is best to show the acorns and the trees too, but I thought that I would do this just to see what people's thoughts are of what each is. So what...

The Tree of Life at Walt Disney World, I love that tree. It would be something if it were real. Yes, cemeteries are exciting.

Re: Things only a big tree hunter can understand...

Whenever my family and I go anywhere, whether it is just to north Jersey or out of state, I look to see what big trees there might be along the way that I might want to see. My wife gets a little tired of it, but that might be the only way that I would be able to see most of them. I know that she wo...

Re: Big trees from Mantua Conservation Area

Nice size Tulip Trees. More trees that I want to see. It would be nice to check out all the forests in New Jersey. There must be some big trees hidden in all of them.

big Bur oak, Lancaster County, PA

This past Saturday we made our yearly trek to Lancaster, PA for the Cherry Crest Farm corn field maze. As I am always looking for big trees, this trip would be no different. I had seen on the Pennsylvania big tree website that there was supposed to be a Black Walnut on Lincoln Highway (Route 30) in ...

Re: Caledon State Park, VA

My wife and kids and I were there in July. I wish we could have spent more time there, but we were on somewhat of a schedule. It is a cool place. There were several Hummingbird moths on that bush that is in the one picture. In other areas, there were some Gold Finches and some butterflies that I don...
