Re: Maymont Park, Richmond VA

I have been to Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond a few times, where there are a lot of huge trees. I have wanted to go to Maymont, but have not gotten there yet.

Re: Bur Oak Database

There is a big Bur Oak in Lancaster County, PA that I have photographed. I think John Harvey has measured it.

Re: George in Cary, NC

As bad as that is for trees, there are other things that people do to trees that should not be done at all. People trim trees as if they were bushes. People top off trees. People cut branches off of trees and leave a couple inches or more on the tree. All of this is bad and I don't understand why an...

Re: unknown oak

Thanks guys. I have seen that tree many times but never thought much about it. Now that I look at trees more then I used to, I notice when I see something different. That may be the only one that I have ever seen.

unknown oak

My family and I were in Lancaster County, PA this weekend for our annual trip. While at Hershey Farm for their buffet this morning, I saw this oak tree with unusually long acorns. I don't know the variety and was wondering what it is. I have attached some photos.

Re: Green swamp preserve, nc

That is so cool! I would love to go there. I had heard about it. Near Pensacola, FL there is a state park where there are a lot of pitcher plants and sundew. We went there a couple of years ago. Here in NJ there are some areas with carnivorous plants too.

Nice tree. I was at the Georgia state champion Live Oak in May as per my post on May 20, 2015. I think a co-champion is a tree within 5 points, not 5%.

New City and state Co-Champion Poplar

I agree Bart. They are Tulip Trees and will always be Tulip Trees. I don't understand why people don't just call them Tulip Trees. They are not Poplars, no matter how many times they are referred to as such. Tom I've heard the tree called Tulip Tree, Poplar Tree, and Tulip Poplar. Not being a scient...

Re: Georgia state champion Southern Live Oak

Here are couple pictures of the Redcedar to the left of the Live Oak. Also, multi-stemmed this or single-stemmed that, I don't care. That Live Oak is the most amazing tree that I have ever seen. If you look at a lot of Live Oaks, a high percentage of them will look like that.
