New Jersey state champion Tulip Tree

I have been wanting to search out the state champion Tulip Tree for along time. Last Wednesday, I finally got the chance. My son and I went to Freehold to see some old churches and big trees. The Tulip Tree is in a wooded area in Freehold. In spite of there being a lot of trees in the area, when you...

To Don, here are a couple 'before' pictures. The first is from a few years ago. The second is from last year when it was noticeably dying.

Basking Ridge Presbyterian oak, gone but not forgotten

Since we would be going by the area, I decided to take a quick detour to Basking Ridge Presbyterian Church. Fearing the worst, ...

huge Sycamore

The day after Thanksgiving, 2 of my children and I went to an area in northern Pennsylvania to visit relatives who had moved there in September. I am always on the look out for big trees, so when I see one I am very happy. It was a short trip. On the way home the next evening, we were on Route 6 in ...

two of my favorite things

Also while in Lancaster County, PA, we stopped at the Old Leacock Presbyterian Church. While there, I noticed two big oaks, which I didn't know were there, behind the church. These are two of my favorite things, old churches and big trees. When together, it makes them extra special.
