Re: London Grove White Oak

The spread for that tree is 117 feet as per the Pennsylvania champion tree website.

Re: London Grove White Oak

I have seen that oak a couple of times. Yes it is a magnificent tree. There are also some big white oaks in New Jersey that have been mentioned on these forums, if you look in the New Jersey part of the site.

Re: Updated Live Oak Project Listing

Did you measure the oak that I had posted about in late August from the Pensacola area?

Re: a Live Oak for Larry to add to his list

Larry- I was hoping you would respond soon. You were in the area last weekend and we were in the area the weekend before that. It is funny how that happens. I was glad that I had looked for that tree. I wonder why they have it as discontinued on the Florida champion tree site. Please post the measur...

Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest

I have wanted to get to old growth areas of the mountains of North Carolina for along time, especially areas with a lot of big Tulip trees. Since my son and I would be passing through western North Carolina on our way home from Florida, it seemed like the perfect time. I had read about Joyce Kilmer ...

a Live Oak for Larry to add to his list

Last week, my family and I went to Pensacola to drop off my younger daughter at college. When in the south, I am always on the look out for big Live Oaks. Before we went, I looked on the Florida champion tree website for Live Oaks and saw that there is one in Santa Rosa county, but it said discontin...

another identity unknown

Today my son and I came across this tree along the Elephant Swamp nature trail in South Jersey. I don't have any idea what it is. There were a couple of others like it along the trail.

Re: New Jersey state champion Tulip Tree

Erik, I would like that. Maybe sometime this summer I will head up that way. I will let you know if I am going to do that. What would be the best way to let you know?

Re: identity unknown

It is definitely not a Willow Oak. The leaves that are pictured are from the tree trunk that is pictured. There are beech trees nearby, but not in the immediate area.

Re: New Jersey state champion Tulip Tree

Erik, I have seen quite a few Tulip Trees in New Jersey. If there is a bigger one than the state champion, I don't know about it. Would you be able to tell me exactly where the New York champion Tulip Tree is? I am always on the lookout for big Tulip Trees.
