Please remove this thread.

I don't appreciate having my name publicly thrown in the mud.

Re: More Exceptional Trees From Redwood National Park

That's what I was referring to, the more recent round of meticulous record keeping. It's all kind of relative if you consider discovery as the first human eyeballs on something. Who knows who's seen what over the last 150+ years. Applying a measurement filter, the greatest discoveries of volume tree...

Re: More Exceptional Trees From Redwood National Park

I wish I had been around for some of the bonanza years to gauge the rapid succession of 20k findings compared to now. Because, as slim as the pickings may be, in my experience over the last couple of years, it feels like new 20k candidates continue to be found with some regularity. With so much focu...

Re: Childrens Forest Trail report/review

The entrance to the Children's Forest Grove (basically where your shot was taken) is the only spot I've seen digitalis growing in HRSP so far. Post burn it looks like the grove has potential to get those carpets of sorrel like in the GFB. The tree in the middle of the lollipop is pretty nice, eh?

Re: Anyone been up Willaby Creek since the trail was reopene

Almost made it to the Willaby Cedar. The trail petered out at the Willaby Creek crossing and the orange tape on the other side wasn't going to be easy to follow. It would have required bushwhacking that my companions weren't prepared for, so the cedar will wait for another trip. Didn't have a ton of...

Re: New 28k SEGI in Peyrone Grove

Considering this, I feel that it's more likely that there are some big undiscovered giant sequoias than coastal redwoods. Interesting to see you say that. I figured by available satellite imagery alone, the big broccoli top SEGI can be relatively easily distinguished from the surrounding forest. On...

Re: Redwood Titan nobody has found (?) ... the Epicenter

Recently on my Hyperion page, I updated a note relayed to me, about seekers going up Hyperion alley, with no reported finding. I can see how folks can pass right by Hyperion without spotting it. Last year I was coming back from exploring the alley past Hyperion and ran into a group of maybe five pe...

Larry, one of the articles about the tree mentions an estimated range of 1,000-1,500 years.

Re: Anyone been up Willaby Creek since the trail was reopene

That's one of the reasons I want to find it. Much more vigor than some of the other large Red Cedars. Seems like a perfect specimen, very large and relatively young. In Forest Giants Van Pelt mentions the acre in the Willaby Cedar entry and says, "The Willaby Creek Nature Trail passes through this g...

Anyone been up Willaby Creek since the trail was reopened?

I'm heading to Lake Quinault this weekend and I see the Willaby Creek trail has been reopened. Has anyone been on the trail since the reopening? Anything I should be aware of? I'm going to be looking for the Willaby Creek cedar and hopefully some of the big individual Doug Fir. Anyone know which sec...
