Outstanding finds and documentation! I doubt we will ever find our F. grandifolia that tall! So I guess that species now lays claim to the second tallest temperate Fagaceae we know of? I would love to be on a climbing team if all can be arranged.

BTW, driving that far for a tree is not crazy at all- but to be expected as a symptom of a true dendrophilic infection.
